Women Overcoming Adversity - Transforming Obstacles into Opportunities. Lessons from the Past, as we look to the Future

Susan B. Anthony, Lucretia Mott, Carrie Chapman Catt, and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. These women, along with others, faced great adversity in their fight for the right for women to vote. They embraced the challenge before them and continued to push forward until women were guaranteed the right to vote in 1920. This was the beginning of the transformation of an obstacle into an opportunity. As we celebrate the centennial anniversary of the work of these suffragists, we must look to the other women, role models from which we can learn, women who have overcome adversity and transformed obstacles into opportunities in their lives.
